Adding gmail address to Thunderbird. Brings up the screen with the correct gmail address. I press allow, but message in Thinderbird is telling me wrong credentials. Dit all the tips I found, still wrong credentials. Fighting this for weeks on and off. Can't find the source of the problem. I am a Thunderbird user for many years, contributed money because I was(?) a happy user.....now I am frustrated. Please help me out.

On the screen with your address, you must enter the account (not app) password that is the same one used to access the account on the gmail website. Cookies must be accepted in TB Settings to have the (OAuth2) authentication complete.

It did not work. I was working this afternoon to see if I can find the isse as for daily use I am checking my mail with the Webbrowser.

I even have donated in the past, but for now I think I had to find another mail client after many years.

I have tried every websit the last couple of week, I tried ever tip. I modified the everything, the only thing I did not do is removing Thunderbird tallay and start again..... it might be the solution, but I think it is something simple..... I really want this solved and will watch the tread from now on very closely.

  • Enable IMAP
  • Removed old gMail password
  • Change password
  • Accept cookies
  • change normal password to OAuth
  • Pressed 1000 times "allow" button.....

Is did this mutiple time and in different sequences, it just does not work; it drives me nuts.
