All of a sudden I'm being asked for a password when sending outgoing mail, but when I enter the only password I use it tells me it's incorrect
I've been using Thunderbird for my blog email for a while with no problems, but recently it started asking me to log-in when attempting to send outgoing mail. When I enter the only password I have for this account I get a message saying the password is incorrect. None of my own troubleshooting has worked so I appreciate any help I can get. I'd be grateful for any help as this is very frustrating.

If the provider of the current outgoing server changed their policy to be like Gmail's, that would be a problem, so I suggest you create, if it doesn't already exist, an outgoing server for the non-sending account (Tools/Account Settings, select Outgoing Server (SMTP) at the bottom of the left pane, then Add.. or Edit.. an smtp server), then follow the instructions above to make the ABC account send through the ABC smtp server.

Thank you for the reply, sfhowes. I checked everything you recommended and all looks okay. Like I mentioned, I can receive messages fine and the outgoing mail issue only started very recently. I did notice my incoming mail and outgoing mail are on different servers. Could that be what's causing the issue?
I appreciate your help, but I'm feeling more confused now than before I posted my question. At the most basic level, do you know of any reason why I would suddenly be asked to enter a password only when trying to send messages? AND when I enter said password why it's saying the one I entered is incorrect? It's like I have two separate passwords without having set them up.
