I noticed of late that the Firefox Taskbar icon is no longer recognizable on the Windows 11 Taskbar! It is no longer a circle showing a fox but is a rectangle with a dark square like thing in the middle with very tiny dark spots in lighter areas. How can I get the original icon back that is recognizable as Firefox?

Thanks

Hi,

Do you have a Firefox shortcut on your Desktop or in the Start menu? Does it also look broken?

I had the same issue, which appeared after an update 11/16/2025, but only on one Win11 laptop, out of two. It works on Lenovo Yoga but fails on Dell XPS 15 9500. The taskbar is the generic document icon (vertical rectangle with right top corner dogeared.)

The Firefox desktop icon looks correct, as does the one in the Start menu.

Firefox was pinned. After the update, the icon changed to some other generic icon (horizontal rectangle, IIRC.) After unpinning, I got the generic document icon.

Re-pinning it fixed it.
