With search suggestions turned off and browser history completely cleared (all check boxes for all time), Firefox suggests AP News (apnews.com) when I click the search bar. This started kind of recently, though I'm not sure what version triggered the change. I'm not sure how to submit a bug report, so I'm posting here.

I do have some suggestions turned on; I should have mentioned that. I have browsing history, bookmarks, open tabs, shortcuts, and search engines enabled. This happens with cleared cache and no open tabs. AP News is not a bookmark nor a shortcut, and it doesn't show up in the same place as the rest of the search engines.

I'd agree you shouldn't see it based on that.

Can I ask if it's possible it got added as a shortcut without your knowledge? I know you said it isn't a shortcut - I'm only asking because I saw a Reddit thread where this exact site (AP News) was added as a user's shortcut without the user being aware.

(Sorry for screenshot, but sometimes posted links get blocked here.)

Firefox browser doesn't have it's own search engine. You need to check what search engine your using to do the search.

But OP says that search suggestions are turned off. So it shoudn't matter what search engine is being used - Firefox should not show suggestions from it.

Do you have any of the options for "Address Bar" suggestions turned on? (The screenshot shows which checkboxes I mean).

It was indeed a shortcut that was somehow added.

It seems Firefox uses the term 'shortcut' for multiple things. There are 'shortcuts' that are really hotkeys, there are 'search shortcuts' that can be found in Firefox settings, and there are home page shortcuts.

Thank you, pg_78!
