Not able to send emails to more than one address

Since the last update of Thunderbird (Feb. 13?) I have not been able to send emails to more than one address at a time. The dialogue box reads "Sending 100%" but nothing happens. Even after 20 + minutes the message won't be sent. When I delete all addresses except one, the message is sent right away. Looking forward to any ideas you can suggest. Many thanks in advance.
