I´m using the 32 Bit version 61.02 on Win 10 newest build. When I leave firefox open but dont use it for a certain timeframe (f.e. 30 minutes or longer) , the browser does not load a newly called website. Shutting down the browser and starting it again solves the problem immediatly. Any reason for that behaviour?

Hello,

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Try to start Firefox in Safe Mode to see if that works.

  • Windows: hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox
  • Mac: hold down the Options key while starting Firefox

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.

Hello to all Thank you for the fast responses. Refreshing firefox I tried some days ago, but was not successful. Therefore I tried to follow the second recommendation. I started firefox with deactivated addons and the first result looks promising but its to early to say that is the solution. I´m trying to test the individual addons who might contribute to the problem and may be also a combination of some of them. I´ll keep you up to date

Or try this when starting up the PC press "F8" and boot into "Safe Mode with Networking" and open FF and go to a page that you know the problem happened to before and let it idle and see what happens. If this setup does nothing to the Browser and it works without problem then you know it might be Browser related and something inside of it is causing it. Otherwise you might have to note your plugins and uninstall all FF installs and delete the Mozilla folder and reinstall FF again and run FF itself to see if the problems happens on the same pages again. Your going to have to do some diagnosis to narrow down the problem and where it is coming from.
