Tabs crashing while listing books at Amazon. Tried all of your stupid fixes! Only refresh worked for about a week now it is back. Fix this worthless browser! Pl
Costing me money. Crashes during listing Now have to wait 3 days because information lost and listing closed. Trying Chrome tomorrow! Have used Firefox for years. It was once the best. No videos playing, limiting tabs to minimum (3 or less). Extremely low demand. Sick of seeing GAH! messages.

thanks, have you fiddled with the page file settings on your system by any chance? https://lifehacker.com/5426041/understanding-the-windows-pagefile-and-why-you-shouldnt-disable-it
I have 4 Gig of RAM. I looked on Microsoft Support to find where to check page file size. processor use is set to optimize programs and I have 1351Mb as page file. seems small to me but i do not remember changing it. What do you recommend?
It is something like this : MICROSOFT VIRTUAL MEMORY
You may want to try this: Open the System Folder then Click on left side Advanced System Settings which opens System Properties click the Advanced Tab then click Performance button Settings then the Advanced Tab then Click the Change under Virtual Memory click Custom Size and Change Size to where it says Recommended Size then Click Set and then Click Apply then please Re-boot. ( ENTER the MAX Size in both MIN and MAX)
System - -> Advanced System Settings --> System Properties - -> Advanced Tab - -> Change Virtual Memory - -> Custom Size - -> ENTER Recommended MAX Size in both MIN and MAX boxes - -> Set - -> Apply-- > Reboot
if you have "Automatically manage paging file size for all drive" set in that dialog, please leave it that way as it's the recommended setting.
unfortunately there is no obvious reason in those crash reports that would indicate what's the source of that lack of available memory. one thing to try would be to disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect) and/or reset firefox...
Philipp, Thanks for your no nonsense approach to my issue. When I received your latest reply, I had already changed the virtual memory to recommended setting. So far no tab crashes, however did receive one low memory warning, with only Firefox open with 3 tabs. a quick check on Task Mgr showed Firefox with 7 instances open and fluctuating between 0.8gb and 1.5gb. Throw in the ever hungry windows service host files and I am running 70-90% on memory. Love my laptop and it has served me well but Win 10 and Firefox alone are maxing me out on memory! Resetting my browser is not an option. Lost so much functionality last time, it took a couple weeks to get everything working again. Like blowing up a bridge to get rid of a few chuckholes. I have throttled Cortana to only 1.5mgb average. Will see if that helps. Who needs all of that windows crap anyway. Thanks again. Unless you have further suggestions, I will mark my question [answered] later today. Have a Blessed Day!
in order to somewhat reduce the memory usage of firefox you could also limit the amount of content processes to "1": Firefox's performance settings
I have done that in the past. Does reduce mem requirements but listing a single book on A'zon is a 7-8 step process, opening and closing several tabs in rapid fire. Reducing content processes to 1 causes a few seconds of lag with each step. Seems like an eternity when listing 100 items. Might play with 2-3 processes just to see. When I had Win7 Readyboost sped things up considerably. With Win10, I can't even tell if it is actually on or not!
Hi, you may find this useful : https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/26120-optimize-performance-windows-10-a.html Since this is more performance related you may want to consider posting in this reputable site for additional information or more personalized info.
If have not done so might do this as it takes ram. Uninstall anything you can that you are not using and are able to from the Start Button. As well go through all Settings and turn off things that you have no use for and again uninstall from here also with right clicks. Delete all the maps and turn it off and use google maps instead. A ton of ways to save ram here.
