I get Gah tab crashed message for gmail always. Most other sites work.
This started after the 12/28/17 update. I have to switch to Chrome. Prior to that no problems.

If is your Profile :

Note: Any customization will revert back to default, you will also need to reinstall Extensions.
Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.
I tried all of this to no avail. Everything was working fine until the 57.03 update.
If you want, you can uninstall Firefox (you won’t lose settings and data) and install 57.0.2 from here. Be sure to change the Firefox update setting to other than Automatically install updates before uninstalling, or it will update again afterwards.
I’m not sure if this is a new known issue in 57.0.3 that is being worked on, but reverting to 57.0.2 would at least confirm the update caused it. In that case you would need to wait for a next small or the upcoming 58 update.
