Firefox's built-in home page promotes Mozilla initiatives and products below the search box. These messages rotate and often if you reload the page (Cmd+r) you will see a different one.

You can hide these "snippets" if you find them distracting, using a custom style rule (or perhaps an add-on). Alternately, you can use a different home page.

For an example of a custom style rule, see this page: https://userstyles.org/styles/104618/about-home-hide-snippets

You can apply the rule using either the Stylish extension (which is a multi-purpose restyling add-on for both user interface and web pages) or by create a userContent.css file.

To choose a different home page, please see either of these articles:

Sorry but I have no idea what your reply means. This is what I get at the bottom of any Firefox page I use. Sync encountered an error while syncing: Unknown error. Sync will automatically retry this action. Sync Now.

I don't use Sync, I never have and see no reason for me to use it in the future. I use a Mac and when I enter Sync into Spotlight, there is no indication that I have Mozilla Sync on my computer.

Hope you can help me please. David

Hi David, I was thinking of something different, obviously.

Sync is an internal feature of Firefox, so here are two places to try disconnecting from the service:

Main application menu

According to the last section of the support article "How do I set up Sync on my computer?":

  1. Click the menu button new fx menu to expand the menu.
  2. Click on your Sync account name (usually your email address) to open the Sync preferences.
  3. Click Disconnect. Your device will no longer be synchronized.

Preferences

You can open the Preferences page and see whether you can disconnect or delete any data related to Sync here:

"3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences > Sync

I don't use Sync myself, so I'm not sure what you'll find there if some account information has been entered. Perhaps this is the same as the first method?

Any luck?
