Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

What page opens when you open the new tab?

If you have malware on your computer then you should remove it and not disable its effects with an extension.

It seems to be working now, thanks very much. I thought I had that app (Adblock Plus) added but since I added it it does not seem to be happening anymore, the site that it occurs on is "Feed2all.com". Anyway thanks for the advice, shall be back if this occurs again . . .
