Completely black screen, just blank at startup, cant click anything, cant see anything.

I've tried all the fixes in the other post with the blank "white" screen, except mine is black

hello wicaed, though you have said you've already tried some suggestions from the other thread, please follow the troubleshooting steps described at Firefox opens with a transparent or blank window (go to safe mode, remove/disable any extensions that might be there even after a complete reinstall). if this resolves the issue, it would also be interesting which extensions were present.

in case the problem is still present afterwards another thing you could try in safe mode is to disable hardware acceleration in firefox > options > advanced > general.

this problem came back to me, it now is even transparent in safe mode, i reinstalled, deleted personal data, even went back a month in versions. all i did again was restart my computer, i had it up right before i restarted!

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

looks like adding it to my windows firewall and allowing it worked.

thank you, i was beginning to hate opera
