I have been using Thunderbird for a few years, but it has not been working properly for some time. Sometimes you can get messages from gmail.com well, other times you can't read messages when you restart. Although it displays the message "The connection to the pop.gmail.com server was answered", it can take hours to get the messages. When you can read the messages, until you turn off the computer, it always works well, but if you turn off, I have the same problem again. Thank you for letting me know what I can do. Best regards Jose Santos Faro-Portugal

Try This:

'Menu app icon' > 'Options' > 'Options' > 'Advanced' > 'General' tab Click on 'Config Editor' button Accept the risk

In search type: IPv6 Look for this line: network.dns.disableIPv6 It will probably say 'False' Double click on that line to toggle the value to say 'True'

Close window using top right X

Restart Thunderbird.

Please report back on results.

I have tried to uninstall thunderbird a couple of times but when I reinstall in it just comes up with my account and all my emails. (and the same problem) Does anybody know where and what files I need to delete after uninstalling it, so when I reinstall it thinks it the first time to be installed on this computer???

I think this may work if I can find the files to delete.

Thanks in advance

Uninstalling Thunderbird and reinstalling will have probably have no effect because there is nothing wrong with the program. There are very few instances when a program needs uninstalling. Usually, the issue is in a profile. Leave the current profile alone.

Suggest you create a new profile and add the mail account.
