I thought Quantum was quick yet upon first opening, my homepage took longer to load. I have to say I haven't found an answer and recently tripled my ram so can't be objective.

But I find Quantum to be very quick, although my first/homepage still takes a few seconds. I presume you've emptied Windows cache as well as internet/browser history etc. Others posting solutions mention deleting and creating a new "profile" in FF. I don't have the instructions but they should be here and/or over on mozillazine.

Otherwise, another solution I find a lot is this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/refresh-firefox-reset-add-ons-and-settings

Hope that helps.

Refreshing Firefox {web link} is a LAST RESORT ! !

Refreshing Firefox -- easily fix most problems

If you're having problems with Firefox, refreshing it can help. The refresh feature fixes many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information like bookmarks and open tabs. Everything else, like user settings and add-ons, are removed.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Try to disable accessibility services in Firefox.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

It is possible that your firewall or other security software blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program. Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to install for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process. "New" browser, same exact issues. Hilarious. You guys are slower than IE! I repeat: Slower than IE. One more time I really think you need to let this sink in. YOU ARE SLOWER THAN IE.

Blah blah blah, hardware acceleration, blah blah, extensions, safe mode, blah blah blah, restore, delete profile, cache cookies, blah blah.

Same exact crap for 15 years now.

My homepage loading turned out to be a new setting I was unaware of. 'Slower than IE' - ?! - I can only think you're someone working on the same 15 yr old system, w/a Gig of ram, or don't know how to disable startup programs... Something's off and it's not the knowledgeable magazines and sites that have quantified results. Maybe you need a tutor.
