Why are magnets from all sites suddenly returning "file not found" message.

I am running Firefox 26.0 on Windows 7. Until yesterday, clicking on a magnet icon triggered an appropriate response by utorrent. Today, December 25, 2013, doing the same thing in the same way on any magnet icon on any site gives the "file not found" message instead of doing what it did before. I made no changes to Firefox. Using IE, I get the desired result, so it appears not to be a utorrent problem. What do you recommend?
