I have version 153.02esr. Since two days ago I cannot reply or forward messages. It pulls up the appropriate page but there is no box to send, the space is just blank in the upper left hand corner.

Just had a not requested update to 153 esr, which in itself is generally fine, with a small exception.

The windows min, max and close buttons all come up with a code.

Probably just some weird setup I have but any ideas will be welcome.

I use userChrome.css to give a background colour, so maybe the ID of each has changes for any css

1. titlebar-min{height:1.66em; background:#00b !important}
2. titlebar-max{height:1.66em; background:#090 !important}
3. titlebar-close{height:1.66em; background:#d00 !important}

but I don't see how that would effect the actual bare icon

Recently updated to ESR Meadow.

Now when I try to save attachment from an email by dragging and dropping to desktop, Windows pops up "Error Moving File or Folder - Unspecified error" and the operation fails.

And when I try to save attachment from an email by right click > open > Save dialog, the save filename is always "nsmail" but with the original file extension. E.g. a jpg attachment would come up as "nsmail.jpg", and a txt file attachment would come up as nsmail.txt. It does then save it, but why lose the filename?

It used to preserve the attachment filename, I'm sure! And drag and drop to desktop was such a convenient feature!

I have tried in Troubleshoot mode and behaviour is the same. I have tried in Windows Safe mode and behaviour for Save is the same; but drag and drop is completely disabled there (when I drag it, it shows a circle with line through icon).

Is it just me?

When writing a new message, the Menu bar does not display so I cannot Send a composed message. This happened all of the sudden, and I have unsuccessfully searched to find out how to restore the Menu Bar. My 32 bit Thunderbird is up to date. Up to date Windows 11, & Firefox (default browser). The SEND button has vanished in Thunderbird. I don't recall changing anything or performing any updates, though my memory is getting to be unreliable.. In addition, the LINK button has vanished as well. I imagine I did or am doing something stupid and it's an easy fix, but what that might be totally escapes me..

I went to View and tool bars... Composition was already enabled. Alt and F10 did not reveal "Send." I tried to use the "Customize" menu and it did not include "Send." I do appreciate your help, even if everything suggested so far has not worked. My fear is that I may have to delete my Thunderbird in its entirety and re-install. If I do this, is there a way for me to save my address book? Is there still a way for me to get my Send back.

I may have to just settle using <Ctl> Enter on my keyboard. Bill

All e-mails from Pay pal go into trash. Have marked as Not Junk but this has not helped. Needed e-mail from Pay pal today to pick up a click & collect order but didn't receive any e-mail. Tried to log in to Pay pal on Android phone not desktop PC as I usually do. Kept sending codes to my e-mail address to log in but I received nothing. Wasn't until I had come home and accessed Thunderbird on my PC that I found them all in the Trash. Luckily store gave me my order and I didn't have to go back.

And worse yet, every 10-15 seconds I receive an alert that the connection has timed out. About a year-ish or so ago, our internet provider (Cox) sold our email service to yahoo. Although I managed to get all of the accounts (cox allowed our household 5) entered so that they all *received* mail, only one was able to send mail. The other four could only receive. Also, I could not send mail from either my google/gmail address or my very ancient yahoomail address. But all could at least receive mails. All in thunderbird, Excellent. As of yesterday, only one (a previous cox address) can receive or send mail. I tried sending a test mail to all of the other addresses, and no joy. If I get onto the yahoo main site, I can sign in with password and then must receive a text, phone call or other verification. And, of course, sign out of each, then sign into another, lather, rinse, repeat. Apparently I can also use a "passkey" which appears to be an actual "thing" that I have to plug into a USB port. I don't have one of these and have no idea what it is or how to get one. Since I've been composing this request, I've gotten 6 pop-up notices that the thunderbird server to yahoo has "timed out" - this is pretty annoying! And, there's another one! I am open to suggestions! Thunderbird has been great for getting all the emails in one place. Now, not so much. Help me!

My ISP changed us to another mail provider. So I created a new version of my existing email with different server settings, then restored my email backup. I did this all offline and it was successful. All my emails and folders were there.

Next, I went online to download new email, after which all of the messages and folders from the backup were removed (overwritten). I've tried repeating the process by removing the new account and reinstalling it, but I can't get my old emails and folders back. This is a significant problem because I have over a decade of financial and legal emails in the backup. I have tried a number of the solutions posted in the Community but have not been successful in getting my emails back. I'm using Windows 10 and Thunderbird 115.10.1.

Any insights are most appreciated.

Why is Thunderbird consatntly coming up with "Authentification failure while trying to connect to server outlook.office365.com"? It never used to and would download my hotmail emails perfectly until about a month ago. This is very frustrating, I have removed my hotmail account from thunderbird and re installed it, works for ocassionally the back to same old message authentification failure. What is going on with thunderbird?153.02

Hello For the past few days, every time I launch Thunderbird, I’m asked to re-enter my account password. I do this every time after deleting the saved passwords in the settings, ticking the ‘Use the password manager...’ box, and restarting Thunderbird. But nothing seems to work. Do you have a solution? Thunderbird has stopped downloading mail from the outlook account for my prime account, but my secondary account also outlook is OK. It kept asking to sign into my account then directed me to a web page to sign in for outlook, but it would only let sign into the 2nd account. I have tried uninstalling Thunderbird and re-installed it but still have the same problem.

1) How do I get the emails Thunderbird marks as spam to be moved to the Spam folder without me doing anything. I have thousands of emails now most marked as spam but I have to go in and move them one by freaking one!

2) Also you freaking filter system doesn't work worth a crap! I have created filters for instance: for any emails that have @cypress.com in the From part of the message to be moved to a folder under my inbox named Cypress. I have run it many times and actually none of the filters I've created work? They are very simple to understand and I am doing them correctly as far as I can tell but they don't work. I have created at least a dozen filters and the only emails moved are ones I moved manually myself.

And this training crap you have I don't know what you think it should take a computer to learn to move something to a folder. It's not like a child that has to be taught how to spell. You tell it if it has this in whichever field you've selected then it should move it. Not have to be taught? Not a bright idea in my opinion. It's why AI isn't very smart at least what they release to general users. Anyway I digress.

If you can help me with the above issues in the above paragraphs 1 & 3 I would greatly appreciate it.

I just downloaded Thunderbird onto my new laptop. I use AOL as my mail server (not voluntarily; they own the verizon.net email domain). This is also my 1st foray into IMAP.

On Thunderbird, there are two "Drafts" folders (identical spelling). My draft emails go to one of the two. I cannot unsubscribe from either by using the any of the methods I found on here (including: uncheck, close Subsribe, close the program, wait a few mins, then open the program). The result is that both "Drafts" folder remain on the LH panel and both remain checked in the Subscribe window.

An interesting note is that the properties of the "Drafts" folder that does not receive draft emails is: "imap://w5mt%40verizon.net@imap.aol.com/Draft" with the Name in the Folder Properties window as "Drafts" (this cannot be changed in the Folder Properties window). The properties of the "Drafts" folder that does receive draft emails is: "imap://w5mt%40verizon.net@imap.aol.com/Drafts" with the same Name, "Drafts".

Just to make things more entertaining, AOL Mail also has two "Drafts" folders; one is in the list of folders below Inbox and does not receive draft emails, the other is in the Hidden Folder List and that is where draft emails go. The "Draft" in the main folder list can't be manipulated (e.g. moved). The one in the Hidden Folder List can't be moved to anywhere outside the Hiden Folder List.

In Thunderbird, I would just like the "unused, undesired" "Drafts" folder to either be deleted or hidden. At present, neither option seems possible.

I am in the midst of the long process of moving most (not all!) of my gmail from the gmail server to TBird, using filters as discussed in this thread.

I've started by first using filters on less important emails (ie so that no true disaster occurs if something goes horribly wrong). As I do so, I have questions!

For example, let's say I use a filter to: copy all the emails from @someone.org to a local folder then delete those emails (from the server)

What happens if one of those emails happens to be within a thread, including emails from people who don't match the filter (ie are not @someone.org). Have I broken the thread forever, ie, has something gone horribly wrong? If so, how do I prevent this behavior/have the entire thread move along with the targeted value? If not, I don't see how I can move email without breaking threads, which is a bit of a problem.

(Also - whoops, I see I should update, but the question remains.)

I did something stupid. I cleaned the keyboard with the monitor off and Thunderbird open. My classic display shows all of my messages as a single sheet. If I select a message it only displays the header. I have to click on that to display the message. I found that can happen in a pop account if it is turned on. But I don't know where to find it to turn it off? I am blessed ? with more emails than any human should have and it requires an extraordinary effort to delete all this garbage or to unsubscribe. Thank you I have been chasing this thing for 2 days.

My Send short cut has disappeared.. I also have the "send later" add on to my Thunderbird. I seem unable to send messages. Is there a key board short cut to for sending mail? My old Eudora account used to have one a <Ctl> S.... (With Thunderbird this is Save, instead of send).
