Firefox updated and has completely messed up my desktop,. I cannot access programs running that I can see on alt-tab. I want automatic updates off. A window with 50 tabs has gone completely. Firefox doesn't seem up to it

Firefox updated automatically. It has lost my main window of 50+ tabs. What is worse I can't access any other programme though they are running as I can see with alt-tab. 

I hate programs that automatically update. How do I turn this feature off permanently?

Firefox won't update without a prompt choice unless you have Windows set to update automatically so check that before you sort
