I uses CCleaner to clean up my laptop's temporary files. I used to use Chrome and Edge primarily so when I use CCleaner, I will see no history, recent sites, saved forms and I gonna have to log back into my Gmail again in these browser. Well, this is 1st time I return to firefox after a long time. I used CCleaner, Gmail still logged in and top sites section are still unchanged when open a new tab. I used Clear Data in Privacy and Security option -> still the same. So...how do I ensure that I erase all the temp files, log-in and browsing data? I have to do this is because my Firefox get slowed quite fast and I guess I need to dump/erase all those browsing data. Attached is my CCleaner option for Firefox.

I am using an Alienware 15 R3 laptop with 32GB Ram, SSD and Windows 10 Pro. I think having to clean up Firefox to boost its speed even at this hardware specs means something is not right. But I cannot figure out why or where the root cause is.

Note that using external software to cleanup Firefox profile files can cause files to become corrupted, so to avoid issues we advice not to use external software, but only use builtin Firefox means ("Clear history when Firefox closes" or "Clear Recent History"). The format of Firefox files is changed regularly, so it is always possible that such software needs an update to catch up.

What does the Firefox Cookie Manager show?

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Manage Data
  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

If you keep tabs open when you close Firefox then Firefox stores the cookies as part of the session data in sessionstore.jsonlz4 , so clearing the cookies might not work.
