Easy way to edit subject on received email

hornetster replied

As above, is there any EASY way to edit the Subject line on a received email. These days, most accounts are via email, and currently if I receive a bill for payment, I have to add an XNote or something similar, to note that I have paid, which means that you then have to open that email, to see it... Would be SO much easier, if I could just add a note to the subject line. Realise that you can (laboriously) go through the actual mail files and edit/create a script to do this, but before I go through the process, was thinking there must be an easier way??

Thanks,

One person says that it works, unless this is a different add-on with a very similar name:

No, there is not. I think the philosophy is that an email is like a legal document (and some are) and should never be altered. In practice, you could export a message in eml format, which is plain text which could then be edited with a text editor then re-import it. Not "easy."

I've often wished Thunderbird had the ability to add user notes to a message. There are add-ons like XNote++ that claim to do this.

hornetster, did you try the add-on that was suggested to you? Has it worked? Is it still maintained?

Yes, had no success, ended up playing with manual editing.... Wondering if there is anything else. Thanks.
