Listed down the LHS of Thunderbird I can see the various email accounts I've created. But one of them was created very recently for the purpose of testing a problem here (so I don't need that account any more). Is there a way to remove an account entirely?

If there is, I suppose it'd be made deliberately difficult but I can't see any delete option at all. I can delete individual emails for course but can I remove an entire account entry?

Chosen solution

- click 'account settings' - in left column, highlight the account to remove - below the listing of accounts is 'Account Actions' - click that and 'remove account' is an option. That option includes a tick box to also remove any data associated with the account.

Many thanks david, that was it.

I'll post a different thread about this if necessary but as a side issue... while I was going thru my various tests I've somehow managed to disable the spell checker in Thunderbird. Is there a setting somewhere to bring it back?

more options

- click 'new message' - then if menu bar is shown, click options and then tick 'spell check as you type' - if menu bar is not shown, first click the alt key to display it.

Thanks again david - that was it.
