Since updating computer OS, Firefox is slow, flaky, almost unusable sometimes

I had to update my Macbook to Catalina (10.15.7) because it could not establish secure connections anymore. Since that time, Firefox has been EXTREMELY slow to launch, often does not ever bring up the start page, usually does not open links from my emails, and when on websites does not navigate from on-page links reliably. Medicare websites tell me that my Firefox 102 is out of date, but my computer claims it's up to date. Do I need to download a whole new version? and if so where do I do that? I see there is a version 107?
