do you see an error message? What mail provider? What domain is the email address linked to? ie Verizon email address on AOL would be AOL as provider (or yahoo) and the domain would be verizon.

I was seeing a certificate question? but kept rejecting it as not sure what to do with it. Pam@pamwright.com.au ... have contacted hosting and can get email online, fine there. Just not coming to thunderbird. Pam

Sounds like maybe your Anti-Virus did not like the certificate - was there an 'add exemption' button to allow it ?

Not sure what Anti-Virus you are using but try set AV not to filter Tbird for SSL.
