Is there a way of sharing received emails in the LAN? I mean, like the local folders but pointing to shared SAMBA folders.
I work in a small company where every receive email is classified, stored and shared with everyone. This is implemented with M.S. Exchange shared folders. However, I am trying to get rid of the Exchange Server, install Ubuntu in every terminal and just use google as email server. What I did so far is to share some folders with SAMBA and point everyone's Thunderbird "Local Folders" to them, and this seems to be working well, but the problem is that Thunderbird Local Folders weren't meant to be shared. Actually, if someone adds any email to the folders the other people won't see any changes unless they restart Thunderbird. Also, as Thunderbird stores emails in mbox, when someone is seeing any email belonging to some folder, that folder gets blocked and other people are not allowed to see it.
Is there a way in Thunderbird of sharing emails in realtime in the LAN? That would be a very useful tool for teamwork.

Your coming at this from the wrong end.
It is implemented by Exchange. In Outlook.
So you need
It is implemented by XXX. In Thunderbird. That is you need a server solution to the issue. You could get some if it using IMAP mail accounts but a real solution is probably a far better solution and shared calendars are a real boon I think.
One that I think has some merit is http://www.sogo.nu/ but Zimbra is also worth a look http://www.zimbra.com/products/ I know very little about either product, so do your own due diligence.
Those are certainly not the only exchange replacement packages available as this google search demonstrates http://www.google.com.au/webhp?nord=1#newwindow=1&nord=1&q=exchange+replacement&safe=off
