please disable or remove Plus HD & Update Service - they are probably both adware!

hello, you have a few malicious addons present. please try these steps:

  1. reset firefox (this will keep your bookmarks and passwords)
  2. afterwards go to firefox > addons > extensions and in case there are still extensions listed there, disable them.
  3. finally run a full scan of your system with different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes and adwcleaner to make sure that adware isn't present in other places of your system as well.

Thanks for your helpbut I am still getting the adverts. Colin

what entries do you currently have listed under firefox/tools > addons > extensions?

Some extensions that are installed through the Windows Control Panel can get reinjected into Firefox after a Reset.

Open the Windows Control Panel to the Add and Remove Programs dialog. This may take some time to load. If you click the "Installed on" column header, the programs will be grouped together so you can see how a free program you might have installed snuck other software onto your computer. Try removing everything unrecognized and unwanted.

You can mop up using the scanners philipp listed in the first reply, and/or try some of the other ones listed in this support article: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

My Extensions are Plus HD 5.0 0.93 .19 Update Service 2.1

AVG Security Toolbar (disabled) Microsoft.Net Framework Assistant (disabled) Total Recipe Search (disabled)

Although I have changed the last 3 to "enable", I cannot get them.

I've done that and will have to wait and see if the Adverts come back. Will let you know. Colin

It apears to have done the trick. Many thanks Phiilipp. Colin
