Now when I try view on-line video clips the area on the page where the video player would normally display is a "blank" white space. Hi, I had this issue today and I fixed it with this solution : 1) Uninstall Adobe Flash Player plugin in Windows programs 2) Launch Firefox and go in www.youtube.com 3) Firefox suggests to install Flash Player's plugin (yellow bar at top). Install it. In my view this is only temporary because the previous version of Flash Player was install not the most recent and Adobe will eventually advise that there is a new version to be installed. What should I do then. Firefox need to look into this.

There are a number of active threads concerning the latest Flash player plugin (11.3) and the latest Firefox (13). Not all users are experiencing the same issues, but things to check include the following:

- Conflict with Realplayer Browser Record plugin (to disable this, open Add-ons from the orange Firefox button or the classic Tools menu and look under the Extensions and Plugins categories)

- Conflict with Flash 11.3 Protected Mode (see Adobe Forums: How do I disable Flash Player's protected mode for Firefox?)

I had the same problem IE; not being able to play youtube vids. I went to the adobe page and found a solution. Because I also have realplayer installed this seemed to work. Open real player click on realplayer icon top left go to preferences click on "download and recording" uncheck "enable web download and recording for these installed browsers" restart fire fox

I love Firefox and I've honestly never used any browser for my Internet surfing needs. However, this bug has been a major problem for me and I've temporarily resorted to using a different browser until it's resolved. Hopefully that's soon before I get too attached to my new alternative.

I can't thank you enough for that link - I used the solution and it worked! Although it required me to downgrade from the newest version of Flash, I feel that it was totally worth it. I *really* like Firefox!

After reading here I try the solution that u recommended here and it works perfectly, thnx jscher2000 for your precious help, I really love to use mozilla I am very accustomed with it, and I couldn't surrender myself to the idea that I can't use Mozilla only for this problem. I've been having this same problem as well. I have tried the following tips stated in the link and i did get some results. The weird thing is, videos from vimeo for example, still do not show. As for Youtube, some videos are able to play, while some do not.

I did a downgrade to 10.3 as well as 11.2 but i'm still getting the same results. I have not installed realplayer at all but i do have Flash Video Downloader plug from the flashvideodownloader.org. I've downloaded unviewable videos and later able to view them using VLC.

What gives with the recent update? Thanks.

Yes, the Flash "about" page seems to be working properly. Other websites like kongregate.com works as well or even heavy flash website like http://www.mono-1.com/ works!

But going back to those two videos, i can't see the second one. It turns out black, with no scroll bar/play button/volume button. Just the audio.

Hi To All Freaked Out Firefox and RealPlayer users,

      This is the proper workaround for the problem of not being  able to see videos after the Adobe defective 11.3 update and  not being able to download them with the RealPlayer Browser  Record Plugin extension because Firefox disabled it.You can  enable it but you won't be able to see videos unless you roll  back the defective update and disabling it doesn't even work  for some users to even see videos. I successfully tested   uninstalling adobe's update and reinstalling with two  different versions  - 10.3 and 11.2 and posted this on other  threads beginning 6/11. People who have tried it have been  very grateful once they stopped listening to all the  confusing and misleading recommendations by Firefox and  Adobe. It's the ONLY one that gives full use of RealPlayer as  well as updated security on the Flash Player and I've  provided  the most direct link to that version without having  to download a cumbersome .zip file. It's a link to the 10.3  version. You will see other references to the 11.2 version on  other  threads. Although I tested that first and it works  equally well, there are known critical vulnerabilities as  reported by Secunia and Adobe,so I don't recommend it unless  you have top security software. I do, and had no trouble with  it. The 10.3, however, is up to date on security and works  equally well -I've tested both. Just remember to enable the  RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension after you roll  back the update. 
  Alternatively, if you want, you can simply switch browsers  till this is fixed. And for many of you for whom  FF  disabling the RealPlayer extension does not even work to  allow you to see videos - it didn't for me, and a Level Three  Case Manager I know at RealPlayer said the same thing- obviously it's not the best solution and even if it allows  you to see videos, these geniuses at Firefox have not been  even telling you how to then download videos with RealPlayer  - they've  been too busy following Adobe's "pass the buck and blame  RealPlayer so just disable it" nonsense without telling what  to do next, or that there are other much better choices. RealPlayer is likely not the cause (although there is a conflict in the interaction with the Adobe update.
The Best Choices are:
  
 First Choice 
         Roll back the update to the 10.3 version - see  links below for both Adobe's uninstaller and the 10.3  version. Choose the one that says "for other browsers"- this  is for Firefox. (The other one is for IE Active X. IE version  does NOT have to be changed). And on Adobe clean uninstall  directions, step 4, that says to delete the extra files and  folders  is not generally necessary and you may be denied  access to delete all the files. RealPlayer also says that's  not necessary.I know how to create special permissions  but didn't bother because most users would not know how to do  that -  I didn't have to, although I'm almost certain one of  these Firefox gurus will tell you I'm wrong. It's fine to do  the step, it  just can be difficult for many and it didn't  seem necessary for me or anyone else I've heard back from.
    Note: When you reinstall the 10.3 change the update  setting from automatic to "notify me when new updates become  available" to avoid any more problems until this is finally  fixed. Adobe already updated to the 11.3.300.262 (which was designed to ONLY fix the crash problems and not the video viewing problems) although  they say you won't get a pop up if you roll back to 10.3. I  don't trust anything Adobe says right now until this is  permanently fixed. And in the future I strongly urge you to  do the same. If you forget, you can change the setting from  the control panel. Open Flash Player and click on the  Advanced tab and dot the MIDDLE radio button. If you don't  get notified of a new version you can always check this forum  which you need to do anyway because any new version at this  point is going to be a beta version fix until we test it  thoroughly and I don't care who disagrees with me on that, or  what Firefox says either.
 Second Choice 
        
   Change browsers - the Adobe problem only involves Firefox  . You can view videos and download them with RealPlayer  download button if you don't want to do the rollback. You can  even leave the RealPlayer extension disabled (if that allows  you to see videos) and use another browser to download (just  copy and paste the video URL onto the address bar) and the RealPlayer download button will work.

The solution to uninstall the defective update 11.3 (either version) and then go to youtube and try to download a video to trigger Firefox to ask you to click on a message saying you need to install a plugin, thereby installing previous version 11.2 will no longer work because the Plugin Finder Service has been updated and will install the 11.3 again.

If anybody's having the issue where you can't see videos unless the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension is disabled (now done by default by Firefox), or if you still can't see videos after it's disabled,and either way can't download videos with RealPlayer's download button, please see my solution on this thread to enable you to see videos and download with RealPlayer's Browser Record Plugin extension ( which enables the download button), which will again be working normally.

The article about "flash 11.3 doesn't load video content" never should have been approved and, except for the last step, to downgrade the flash update which I've been insisting on since 6/11, is counterproductive and quite frankly, just plain stupid and should be removed. Here's why.

The first step, to turn off RealPlayer's Web Download and Recording may allow you to see videos again (it did not for me nor for a Level Three Case Manager at RealPlayer) but it will guarantee that you WON'T be able to download videos with any browser - not just Firefox, and the problem here is the 11.3 update plugin ONLY for Firefox. So if you follow this instruction you will be replacing one problem with a far more complicated one, unnecessarily. But Firefox doesn't care about you downloading videos. As one experienced user on another thread commented " I could now see videos but I could no longer download videos - NOT GOOD!!!!" (She hadn't found my post yet).She then rolled back the update and everything works normally again.

The second step, to disable the RealPlayer Browser Record Plugin extension will obviously not allow you to download videos with Firefox. So again, this is , by itself, a worthless answer.

The third step, to "Uninstall Replayer" is so laughable I won't comment on it except I hope nobody's actually tried it. Another user commented "If Firefox doesn't like RealPlayer, why don't you just say it!"

Trouble shooting steps like these are fine if you're looking for additional info for the Developers but people are looking for a workaround for this major calamity caused by the Adobe update 11.3. And whatever conflict it caused with its interaction with RealPlayer is of no concern to most FF users. You want and have every right to be told the easiest way to still use Firefox and also be able to use RealPlayer, since that is easily possible. Or, at least you have a right to be told the other easiest option - to just switch to another browser or use FF but use another browser just for downloading videos. You shouldn't have to be mislead and confused like this. If you complain - if Firefox realizes they're losing users because of things like this, maybe they'll wake up and realize that in addition to playing Sherlock Holmes there's a practical side to this - helping you the Firefox user NOW.

On 6/11 on another Forum thread I said that all three companies' Developers should be coordinating with each other. Last year I got Norton to do that with Mozilla on compatibility updates for the Norton Toolbar. Last week I asked Case Manager at RealPlayer to please suggest that to their Developers - his response - "Of course!" But Firefox 's forum totally ignored my recommendation! Now, almost two weeks after the update, Adobe said the other day they're coordinating with Firefox in the future. Well, Well, Well.

You should know that RealPlayer's techs, from the start have either recommended to roll back the 11.3 update or gotten permission to recommend it when I advised them to and they all agreed it was the best solution, or switch to another browser, for many users who didn't want to bother with anything even a little technical or to even disable the plugin extension and use another browser just to download videos since the other browsers are not effected by this problem. The steps have now been approved by their Developers. They're the same as what I recommended except I recommend an even safer earlier update. But rolling back the update, unlike this article, is the FIRST CHOICE and CHANGING BROWSERS is the second choice. You'll notice that disabling RealPlayer in any way, is not even on the list!!!

    If Firefox is intentionally trying to push their users straight to Chrome with articles and recommendations like this, then they're doing a great job!
