New Firefox VPN?

Why is Firefox sending me email msg's saying to try the new firefox VPN when It doesn't seem to be available to me? It's not in the upper right corner as they state and it's not in the toolbar either which they also say it's suppose to be in!

The about:config preference browser.ipProtection.enabled controls if the VPN button shows up or not. Most likely it's set to false. Toggling it to true should turn it on. Apparently it is on a progressive roll-out.

Here's a Reddit thread that talks about it: https://www.reddit.com/r/firefox/comments/1s2ik4l/introducing_firefoxs_builtin_vpn_ip_protection/

Mine still defaults that value to false.

WARNING from the moderator team: Changing Firefox preferences from the about:config page can sometimes break Firefox or cause strange behavior. You should only do this if you know what you're doing. Please read Firefox advanced customization and configuration options to learn more.

Hi,

The Firefox built-in VPN is being introduced gradually. It’s available to some users in the US, UK, Germany, and France (starting with Firefox version 149), and in Canada starting with Firefox version 150.

If you’re in one of these countries and using one of those Firefox versions, but still don’t see the built-in VPN, it may simply not have reached you yet. Since this is an experiment, the feature is being rolled out in stages. You can check the about:studies page to see whether you’re part of the holdback study.

The built-in VPN may also be unavailable if Enterprise policies are blocking it. You can check this by going to about:policies in Firefox.

Signing out of your Mozilla account and signing back in may also help. Before signing out, make sure you know your password and that Sync is enabled so you don’t risk losing or overwriting browser data.

Finally, when the built-in VPN is available, you should see a VPN icon in the top-right corner of the toolbar. Selecting it will open a prompt to turn on the VPN. If you don’t see the icon, try customizing your toolbar by right-clicking the toolbar and checking the overflow menu to add it back. For more information, see the Use built-in VPN in Firefox article.

If you wish, you can post your feedback about the Firefox built-in VPN to the Mozilla Connect thread.

I get that it may not be avail to me in my area. But why do they keep sending me emails saying how to access it? If it not avail to me; they shouldn't be telling me it is.

It also may be because i run Linux Mint and have Firefox 151.0.1 for mint 001-1.0

It's more likely that we do not know what locale you are in.

Feedback on this matter has already been provided to the product team.

"It's more likely that we do not know what locale you are in."

so can I provide the info, or just wait for roll-out to get to my locale?

and I am allowing firefox permission to improve features, performance, and stability between updates. I checked to make sure in settings and it is checked marked
