Firefox 67. After last update, I cannot get new tabs to open at the end. The suggestions for earlier versions of Firefox don't work.

I want a related tab to open as the next tab and a new tab to open at the right end of the tabs. Under about:config, I tried to change browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent and browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent. No combination of true and false makes any difference - a new tab always opens after the current tab.

I'm sorry no one replied to your question after all these weeks! Have you solved it by now?

The default values should do exactly what you want:

  • browser.tabs.insertAfterCurrent => false
  • browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent => true

But I notice from the extension list you shared there's one called "Open Tabs Next to Current" -- given the name, that sounds like the culprit.

You can view, disable, and often remove unwanted or unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage.

Any improvement?
