I recently installed FF 10.0 but I was also experiencing this problem with the prior version. During use of FF I'm having constant hesitation every 8-10 seconds, where what I'm typing no longer appears as I type it, but there's a hesitation and then suddenly the text appears. Same thing when I use the mouse - the cursor doesn't move for a few seconds and then it's back, or hovering over a link doesn't activate the hover for a few seconds, or clicking a link does nothing for a few seconds, and then after the delay it works.

I thought I might be having a process issue or a virus or something else but then I got to wondering if this is FF specific, and it is. I don't have this problem with other browsers - tested IE, Chrome and Safari. I don't have this problem with Microsoft Office.

Any ideas on a fix?

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.

See "Basic Troubleshooting: Make a new profile":

There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.

If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile, but be careful not to copy corrupted files.
