Duckduckgo search is slow

more options

For the past few days, DDG search has been slow. I'm using Firefox version 146.0.1 on Windows 11. Disabling extensions didn't help, but clearing the cache had an effect: The first search after clearing cache is fast (about 1 second), but subsequent searches are slow (about 15 seconds). I was able to repeat this sequence several times. I also cleared cookies, but that didn't seem to have any effect. DDG Search works fine in a Private window. I'm stumped!

Hello, Here are some fixes that could potentially solve the problem: 1. Disable Extensions: Temporarily turn off extensions like ad-blockers or privacy tools, as they can interfere.

2. Check DNS Settings: In Firefox, go to about:config, search for network.trr.mode, and change it from 5 to 2 to test local DNS resolution.

3. Refresh Firefox: Type about:support, then click "Refresh Firefox" to reset settings while keeping bookmarks/history.

If the solutions above prove to be no help , try the solutions below: 1. Reset Firefox: If refreshing doesn't work, a full reset (after backing up bookmarks).

2. Try a Different DNS: Configure Firefox to use a public DNS (like Cloudflare or Google).

3. Check Task Manager: For Windows users, look for DuckDuckGo.exe in Task Manager if you have the dedicated app, and disable its startup boost.

Today DDG search is working at normal speed (about 1 second for most searches). I made no changes since yesterday. I found network.trr.mode set to 0.
