Sometimes when I type a new URL into the address bar, browser just reloads the current page
Every once in a while, maybe once or twice a week, I'll press Cmd+L to highlight the address bar, type a URL for a new website, and press enter, and instead of going to that new website Firefox just reloads the current page. It seems that this happens exclusively when the current website is gmail.com. (I might be wrong) I can't remember it happening on any other website. This problem has been occurring for me for the past year at least. Any recommendations?

I'm curious: you mention using "Ctrl+L" that is used on Windows and Linux, but posted with a Mac user agent and there you use "Command+L" to focus the address bar.
Do you start typing while this tab is still loading a (home) page as in that case Firefox might ignore what you type (i.e. you see the Stop and not the Reload button) ? You can press the ESC key to stop loading the page if you intend to open a different page.
@cor-el The current page (gmail) is not loading at the time. It's been sitting there fully loaded and unused for a while previously. @zeroknight I've never tried Troubleshooting mode. Unfortunately this is something that happens randomly and infrequently, so I'd have to stay in troubleshooting mode for days and days in hopes of maybe seeing it once.
Is it related to whether an attachment is being previewed in Gmail? There was a report like that on Reddit some time back:
