mouse stops scrolling in Firefox

I can be typing in Firefox and then the color background on the menu bar changes from dark to light blue. It happens every few minutes. I have to keep clicking the mouse to continue typing in different edit bars on a variety of web sites. Virus scan shows no problems.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
