Firefox won't access hotmail.com or outlook.live.com

All my email is at hotmail.com. Firefox refuses to go there. I type in the address and it just reverts back to the site I was on. To set up an account on firefox I had to engage safari to get to my email to get the verify code firefox sent me.

Try accessing live.com instead, since that's the website that hotmail.com sends you too anyway.

I'd also recommend trying Firefox in Safe Mode to see if the issue goes away. It's likely that an add-on installed on your browser is causing this issue.
