Firefox browser window flickering/ blinking

hi, using firefox 27.0.1 on Win 7 and today the browser started to flicker (every 4-5 seconds) during use, as if i had clicked out of the window then back in really quickly. its happening on all websites and makes it difficult to use drop down menus and such like and I've tried some of the other troubleshooting solutions like restarting, safe mode, disabling hardware acceleration and disabling add-ons etc but had no improvement any help would be greatful! thanks

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox (you need to close and restart Firefox).
