hello, this sounds like a problem possibly caused by malware on your pc. please go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan of your system with the security software that you have in place and different other tools like the free version of malwarebytes & adwcleaner.

Remove a toolbar that has taken over your Firefox search or home page Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

you could also perform a reset of the browser...

I have this problem, too, but I doubt that's it's malware as it doesn't appear each and every time Firefox is opened, nor have I been able to find any malware. Blogspot.com is a Google product. How might this attach itself to Firefox?

hello BAB, i've given this advice baecuase the thread owner has added his list of extensions under "more system details" and some of them are certainly questionable (AccelerateTab 1.4.1, AD Block 1.0.0, Productivity 3.1 Community Toolbar 3.20.0.4, ReadingFanatic 2.73.1.23295).

the observation that the issue is not always resurfacing does in no way indicate that no malware is involved. i don't know what's going on on your system, but i certainly would recommend the same procedure :

  1. look into your extension and remove anything you have not installed yourself or don't know what purpose it has or don't trust
  2. do the same with programs in the windows control panel
  3. run a scan for malware with the two tools mentioned

I noticed he has "Diccionario de Español/México 1.1.3 " installed. I had installed an English dictionary, not sure if it is by the same guy, as Firefox doesn't support the new Apple "triple-finger tap" word definition. Since installing this, I have had the same irritating issue. I just uninstalled it, so hopefully that gets rid of the problem.

What a pain. Mozilla should ban that whoever it is that puts garbage like that from contributing.

paravis: note the responses to a similar post at this address, http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=2761331&p=13191953#p13191953

willssss has a list of other add-ons by the same contributor as the Spanish Spell Checker, all of which have his personal blog attached. That's why it couldn't be found using antimalware.

Thanks, BAB

Who marked this as solved?! I have none of the alleged causes but still have the problem.

Edit: Aha! Searching through my Profile uncovered this little gem: Test Your memory! 1.2 true memory@lipo-technologies.com

It isn't listed on that developer's profile page; but who want's to bet it's the culprit. I have tried just about everything offered to solve the "memory leak" problem that FF developers reintroduced as soon as it was finally solved.

Edit: I removed the extension and restarted. No weeklyjobadvice.blogspot.com Unless the problem reoccurs; I'm going to consider this one solved at least in my case - until it's hidden in something else.
