Firefox has recommended abine.com products as add-ons but is blocking my download of Mask Me by abine.com. Why?

I am asking whether Firefox has determined that Mask Me is not what it is stated to be by its parent abine.com and that downloading it may be dangerous. Since the product in question is integral to the creation and use of passwords on all accounts, I want to be very very sure of it before I choose to use it. I would never have heard of abine.com and their various products in the first place if Firefox had not recommended Do Not Track Plus in a newsletter.

I don't believe that Mozilla has ever recommended aibine (it's not related to do not track) and you don't need it to create passwords. In all effects Firefox was probably just checking to make sure you wanted to install it (this is a normal window that appears whenever you try to install an addon.

hello, firefox will warn you whenever third-party sites try to install an extension - this is just a general precaution & doesn't mean that an individual extension you're downloading was tested and found to be harmful (you can set an exception to this behaviour in firefox/tools > options > security > warn when websites try to install addons - exceptions...).

you'll have to make the judgement if it's secure to download from a third-party site yourself - probably in this case when it's from the homepage of a respectable vendor there won't be much of a risk. if in doubt, stick to downloads from addons.mozilla.org - submitted extensions will be inspected by reviewers before they are published on AMO...

I stupidly installed Mask Me and now cannot find a way to uninstall it. I don't like the control the program has over my computer.
