Certifications issues causing youtube to not work properly

more options

Hello, i was unable to access Google and YouTube due to "Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER", i could still access Gmail and drive but those two would not budge, i was still able to access them trough Chrome tough.

I did not have any anti-virus installed, did install malwarebytes for a moment, did a scan and uninstalled it, did not do anything. Turned off windows defender and nothing happened. I did have glasswire installed so uninstalled that as well and nothing happened.

After researching a bit more i found a solution where a guy imported the required certificate from another browser so i did the same. The certificate from both these websites was "DigiCert Global Root G1A" and it was present in Chrome but it was missing in Firefox(In case its relevant), and afterward i got access to both these websites however YouTube stopped working properly. The sidebar on the main site does not show any content( https://prnt.sc/109dtjv ), the comment section wont load and also when i click on my profile it wont load as well ( https://prnt.sc/109dux1 ). As far as i am aware those are the only issues i am facing, the videos load with no problem. Everything is working properly on Chrome so i will assume its not YouTube. I tried starting in incognito mode and safe mode, the issue is still there. So what im currently assuming is that maybe i should not have imported a certificate from another browser but i could be wrong so any help would be appreciated.

TL:DR: Imported certificate from another browser to fix "Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER", now YouTube wont load the sidebar, comment section and myprofile dropdown menu.

Okay found a solution, if you are here from Google you are welcome. So the issue was that apparently Google was sending this useless certificate the "DigiCert Global Root G1A" which is not the one that is usually used and note that you cant even find it on DigiCert's page. The one that is typically used is the "DigiCert Global CA G2"

Solution: Open Firefox->Options->General->Network settings at the bottom->tap on "No proxy"

Everything should be okay now, just restart Firefox and you are good to go.

How to troubleshoot the error code "SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER" on secure websites https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER

Hi can you give me a little more detail as to what those 3 points you set mean, i did not see any of those on the error page but Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER. And i doubt google configured their website improperly.

Also i have been trough that page, as i mentioned it was not an antivirus problem because i don't have one, i did however install malwarebytes for a moment to check for malware as stated on the paged you linked and did find a few, but nothing relevant to the issues because i quarantined them and it didn't solve the issue. I than unnistalled the anti-virus

Maybe i didn't present my issue properly, i don't have the "Error code: SEC_ERROR_UNKNOWN_ISSUER" anymore, i solved it by importing a certificate that was missing on Firefox from Chrome(DigiCert Global Root G1A). My issue now is that after getting access to Google and Youtube, some of Youtube's functionality's stopped working. So what i would like to know is if this is related and whether it is or not, how do i fix it?

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

I have restarted in safe mode, cleared cookies and cache and the issue still persists.

Edit: Discovered a new error, when i search something it doesn't load my query, i need to copy the query from the address bar and paste on a new tab to get the results

Edit 2: Same thing when i enter a channel and click on any tab, i need to copy and paste on a new tab the link on the address bar in order to go there, only when i click on an actual video do i not need to do this

So i found a solution, all you have to do is tap on "no proxy" in network settings.

Yes, the true Google servers send a Google certificate, not a Digicert certificate. There was a "man in middle" via proxy. (Other users have reported this, but we don't know who is behind it.)
