Automatic Firefox Updates fail

Update to the most recent Firefox Browser Version unsuccessful. 'Automatic update' option is active, but I receive a failure message like "... could not be updated to the newest version". I'm stuck at version 69 or so. Manual update equally unsuccessful - I tried the commonly known tips already. Windows 8 PC, active user profile is not 'administrator' (this was not a problem in the past). P.S.: I'm sending thsi message from a different PC (... wher updating Firefox no problem) - so educated guesses below may be misleading

If there is a problem with updating then best is to download the full version and uninstall the currently installed Firefox application to do a clean reinstall.

You can find the full version of the current Firefox release (79.0) in all languages and for all operating systems here:

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
