When I click & drag photos from a website into a folder on my desktop it changes the individual photos in the folder from 'jpeg' to 'document.icns' - fixable?

When I click & drag photos from a website into a folder on my desktop it changes the individual photos in the folder from 'jpeg' to 'document.icns'. To get them to revert back to 'jpeg I have to go to File/Get Info and then click on 'Open With' then click on 'Other' which opens the Application panel and scroll down to 'Preview' then click 'Add'. This then changes every photo back to jpeg allowing the photo to be altered. However this lasts only until the next click & drag and back to 'document.icns' it goes. Double clicking on photos showing this results in the photo opening up a page on Firefox (rather than the usual Finder) which has no function available to make any changes. I have Firefox 58 with all updates and would love to know how I can prevent the change to 'document.icns' every time I click & drag. Anyone got a solution?

From what site so others can test what your saying.

Thanks for your response - I have clicked & dragged from a variety of different sites (those that allow this action) so it is not specific to any site. Looking forward to hearing from anyone who can supply a solution to this annoying problem. It has only happened since the latest updates to version 58 of Firefox.

Cheers, Rex
