Long delays, temporary freezes, any new FF windows also get frozen, for minutes.
This happens on different systems. FF will just hang waiting for some website or whatever, for a few minutes. Any tabs, or new window attempts, are hung. Waiting for several minutes. This is happening frequently both at home and work and I am getting too frustrated.

hello tomarone, what kind of security programs are running on your computers? you could also try to reset firefox to the factory default which will solve many issues (&will keep your bookmarks and passwords).
Two different PC's 1) AVG 2) free Mcafee and MSE microsoft security essentials.
It appears that the socket data (whatever) interface hangs for over a minute, which causes the whole FF and any additional new FF windows to be frozen, until this hung whatever starts up again. New windows cannot startup at all, until the original one unfreezes. This is the effect. It can start up after 5 minutes or more, or after a few seconds. Like some web interface freezes it. Used to be some JavaScript loop maybe, right?
yes, or a plugin - i've experienced it with adobe's flash player plugin since it has introduced protected mode in version 11.3 when something interferes there. could you try disabling flash once for testing purposes and see if the freezes continue - or downgrade to version 10.3 (see solution #2 at Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again).

No Not Flash Plugin. I disabled it and still have the problem.
when you look into the windows task manager - is there an excessive amount of memory used by the firefox process when those freezes happen?
another thing to try for diagnosing the issue would be running firefox in safe mode to make sure that addons, hardware acceleration or the jit javascript engine don't play a role in it.
I've disabled all plugins and will see if one is the problem. silverlight, google talk plugin, google update, VLC, a few more. (P.S. It's kind of pleasant running with no plugins. Would be even better with the no tracking!)

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that works.
Hello, as far as I can determine, the problem involves the use of Silverlight plugin, which is used by NYTimes newspaper. So far, turning Silverlight Off removes the problem. Turning Silverlight ON enables the bug. Problem solved, Tools/Add Ons/Silverlight Plugin Disable.
