I am using version 115.5.1 of Thunderbird, all my folders are set to unthreaded view but Thunderbird will regularly turn one or several folders back to threaded view. When I say regularly I mean almost one time or more per 8 hours work day. I tried to identify a pattern, an action, a keyboard combination, anything really but I can't seem to find it. Today I literally just stepped away from my screen, came back 20 minutes later and found my folder in threaded view. It is driving me crazy.

How can I stop Thunderbird from forcing me to use this threaded view I do not want?

I had to reinstall Thunderbird. A majority of the original Folders after installation are missing. Not in Trash. It is an IMAP account.

The Folders still exist on my ISP Zimbra webmail account.

I read what seems to apply in the Help section of Mozilla Thunderbird but couldn't find anything helpful.

How do I (can I) copy and move the missing Folders and the saved messages in them back into Thunderbird?

I'm a truly novice user please be as clear as possible.

I am s-o-o-o gd tired of this happening. Every time it does, I spend days-to-weeks trying to recover a working edition of Tbird. Why can't you build updates that don't lock a customer out of his/her own emails.

I don't know how or when, exactly, it happened. I use Win11pro which is up to date. I have one Tbird install on dropbox so I can access all my emails from any of four different machines. It worked yesterday (on two machines at any rate, I didn't use the others). Today, no matter which machine I log into, I get an message stating that I ' you have launched an older version of Thunderbird. A newer version of Thunderbird may have made changes to your profile which are no longer compatible with this older version. Use this profile only with that newer version, or create a new profile for this installation of Thunderbird. Creating a new profile requires setting up your accounts, calendars and ad-ons again. For more information . . .italic text Then it gives an 'exit' button and a 'create new profile' button.

1) I did NOT install a new version of Thunderbird.

2) Insofar as I can tell, the version on Dropbox has not changed so nothing should have altered the profile.

3) I do NOT want to create a new profile -- I have years of data in calendars and emails across multiple accounts.

4) the 'more information' link doesn't work.

Why do you periodically do this to me, Mo? Why can't you make changes that don't destroy a person's account(s), profiles or data? Why do you put up such a useless message without a utility to restore things to the way they should be?

5) I have been searching the internet for hours and I don't see a solution to this problem.

I have 235 message filters because this is an old email account, that financial spammers have shared. When I now start Moxilla I get the message "The message cannot be moved or copied to folder 'Trash on..." when it gets to one of the message filters. It downloads all the POP messages, good and filtered. If I leave Moxilla OPEN and new filtered message come in later on that day, Moxilla handles all new messages correctly. The local "Trash" folder is somehow locked but unlocked later in the day. (Windows 11, this just started October 2023)

Identifying addresses mailed to or received from for dead email accoumt in Thunderbird 59.2

Hi. First, I have more tech problems than I can shake a stick at and I m dealing with concussion and screens (monitors, cell phone, etc) aggravates and I don't track as well online as usual, so I'm asking for help sooner than I would hoping y'all can break it down very smply for me. Thanks for reading.

Thunderbird v.59.2 on Windows Vista desktop. Yup, Vista :-) Cable provider died, so years of emails to addresses using isp-provided email addresses are in Thunderbird but can't use emails.

In short term got TMobile 5G wireless and it is hideous, beware! For now I use my cell as hotspot to get on internet on old desktop.

I'll list what I've tried in a sec, but here's my ultimate goal: I want to get AT&T fiber installed and hooked up on new desktop (Windows 11) and install latest thnder bird there and bring over old files. Before installing at&t I have to formally cancel with former cable provider (it's in an odd limbo). I've assumed it's better to cull all email addresses related to those email accounts before severing all ties.

What I tried: Followed this thread https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1255223

I can't upgrade to v60 with Vista. I modified advanced config and added strict config Boolean setting and set to false and added check compatibility 59.2 setting and set to false.

The email crawler add on still gives me not compatible error. I restarted Thunderbird and that didn't help, unfortunately.

What can I do?

Again, my two main concerns are 1) harvest email address on my dead email accounts so I can send notifications of my new email addresses and 2) prepare to move all Thunderbird stuff to new desktop once I have working wireless internet to facilitate.

Thank you for your patience with my explanation and any help you can provide.

I have knocked something in my email, not sure what, but it means my emails are showing in a funny order, I can't delete emails (they keep coming back), and read emails keep showing as unread. When I access my emails through zoho all is fine though so it must be something in Thunderbird? I have followed the troubleshooting, checked my settings and done 'repair folder', but nothing has changed? It's my main work email so could really do with some help to get it back to normal!! I have two other emails on my thunderbird desktop too, and they are all working as normal. Advice welcome!!

i don't want to turn off the "Account Setting -- Composition -- Automatically quote the original message when replying" setting because it's very useful most of the time.

How to i keep the original message from showing up after i delete all of it?

PROBLEM IS WORSE NOW. I tried fixing It my self since I had not heard from anyone. I moved some of the "local folders which had moved up to the top under the first inbox. Now I cannot see any messages in the top inbox which until yesterday had been receiving new email updates. The second inbox still shows does not update but still shows emails going back from 11/27 - the date the problem began. I can see the new emails on my Apple IOS mail. _________________________________ I use Thunderbird on a Lenovo PC with windows 11 installed. I use Firefox as a browser. Also on the latest version of TB. I've attached two screenshots showing the folder structure of my email. The first shows the top structure the 2nd shows the lower part which is usually my local folders.

The top inbox folder was empty when I opened TB this morning. Beneath it are two local folders which are correctly populated but don't belong there. The Inbox which appears below these folders is populated with emails from yesterday and beyond. The top inbox then started getting today's emails. I went to settings and stopped the update of this first inbox. the few emails that had accumulated there I moved to the 2nd inbox. So now the 2nd inbox contains my emails before stopping the updates. The two sub-folders COMA and then sub folder "members" are populated but are clearly in the wrong place. All other versions of these two folders are empty. All other folders seem to be intact and populated. Please Help. How can this be fixed. Thank you

Hi all.

Why did Mozilla move to an update that doesn't work?

115.5.1 update. Thunderbird not accessing email servers.

Thanks for upsetting a system that worked. Why?

It might look very swish - but it doesn't work and if and when it does I'll need another weeks course to find out how it works interupting my well versed routine.

Thanks.

Hello,

When I press on the trashcan on a message on the message list, sometimes (but quite often, about one out of 3 times) the message is still displayed on the message list. If I click again on the message title, the row is updated with the message below the deleted one. But the rest of the list is not updated, and the message which was below the deleted one, now appears two times. And then if I select the row below, this is updated with the row below this one, but then this message is displayed two times. And so on, every time I click on the message below.

To illustrate the problem, suppose I have the following message list:

Message 1 Message 2 Message 3 Message 4

When I delete the Message 1, the list does not change. If I click again on Message 1, the list changes to:

Message 2 Message 2 Message 3 Message 4

If I click on Message 2 on the 2nd row, the list becomes:

Message 2 Message 3 Message 3 Message 4

Now when I click on Message 3 on the 3rd row, the list becomes:

Message 2 Message 3 Message 4 Message 4

And so on

The message list corrects itself, on two occasions : 1. If I delete the 1st instance of a doubly displayed message 2. If the doubly displayed message is a thread and I expand that thread by clicking on the 1st instance of that thread

I read my email by using the "n" (for next) shortcut in the message list pane. When the current message is at the bottom of the message list pane, I see the subject previous messages that I already read on top. The messages that will be next do not show. As a result, I have no way to anticipate what will come next, cannot quickly move to messages in the same thread.

Is there a way to make it so the current message is always in the middle of the message pane instead of being always at the bottom when "n" is used or always at the top when "p" is used, which hides the messages that are next to be displayed in both cases?

In the attached screenshots to illustrate what I want, the good one is where the current message is in the middle. The bad one is where the current message is at the bottom of the message list pane.

When I try to paste quicktext, instead, a line is deleted from where I wanted to paste the text, the text cursor disappears and the focus moves out of the email message box. This has been happening since updating to TB 115 from TB 102, so it is version independent after v115. I use HTML in my quicktext, but apart from that, they are rather non-complex quicktext.

Hello, I have a problem, Thunderbird requests confirmation of a security exception for a certificate at least once a day (we have a PALOALTO firewall at our company and I can't get past it).

And the topic is that in order to send a message or download from the server, you need to confirm a security exception - then the program shouts an error, that the exception cannot be acknowledged, but a repeated attempt to send/download allows it to work and the email is sent/downloaded.

I mean, is it possible to disable the request for a specific certificate? Because all TH users in the company are telling me that it bothers me.
