Firefox is difficult to sync, it used to be easy.

Leo

i have 4 computers and 1 Apple phone that all have Firefox installed. I used to be able to sync all of them with no problem but now it seems it has become extremely difficult and I can't seem to be able to do it as easy any more. My main computer gives me a QR code to scan on my mobile phone but the directions are not clear as to whether I should use my QR reader app or my mobile phone camera. i have not been able to sync my devices because I am having issues signing into my Firefox app on my mobile device. i am just about ready to scrap Firefox on all my devices and start using another browser as it's gotten more difficult to use Firefox. And I would like my old layout for my Windows 11 computer. i do not like the new layout.

Hi

To sync your bookmarks, payment methods, history, passwords and open tabs with Firefox Sync using a Mozilla account and QR code

On your Firefox desktop:

  1. Go to firefox.com/pair. You may need to sign in to your Mozilla account, if you haven't yet.
  2. Select I already have Firefox for mobile and then select the button Continue button.
  3. Firefox displays a QR code that you can scan with your Android device.

On your Firefox for iOS app:

  1. At the bottom of the screen, tap the menu button (the menu will be at the top right if you're using an iPad):
  2. Tap menu Sign In to open the Sync and Save Data page.
    • To sign in using QR code pairing:
      • Visit Firefox.com/pair on your desktop to show the QR code (you might need to sign in to your Mozilla account first).
      • When the QR code displays, tap button Ready to Scan on your phone.
      • Scan the QR code on your desktop. Firefox will automatically sign in and sync your information.
    • To sign in using your email address:
      • Tap button Use Email instead.
      • Enter your login credentials or sign up for an account (it's free) if you don't have one.

Set up a Mozilla account on your iOS device

More info

The QR code shown on desktop is to be scanned in your mobile Firefox apps directly (neither by any external QR scanner app, nor the system camera app) in the step to sign into your account — in lieu of manual account entry.

There's a picture with the steps down the page in support.mozilla.org/questions/1578993 thread from earlier if you wanted to check the menu item locations.
