I created a new folder in the bookmarks library. As this was the first time I had the help page open. When I clicked off the help page the folder had moved to the bottom the bookmarks list (sidebar) and it has not been possible to access the library window since. I have deleted the folder but it made no difference. How do I get access to the library window back please?

Chosen solution

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)

Many thanks for your time and trouble which are appreciated. Actually it transpired the library window was not lost at all. When I clicked off the net there it was winking at me from my desktop! I've copied your solution though so if it does ever really go I have a solution to hand.
