I have a new PC with Windows 11 installed. The messages in my inbox keep dissappearing once they are 14 days old. I also have a laptop with an windows 10 home and all my inbox is displayed on this. Any one else had this problem? Is there a solution?

This is roughly same problem as in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1364315, but this time some more information that's found to be happening.

I notice that when adding a second account of host example.com (not the real domain name), for example info@example.com already being added and active and adding a new account anotheraccount@example.com through the wizard, all outgoing server fields are ignored and the outgoing server of the newly created account is instead set to the very same outgoing server that info@example.com is using (instead of using it's own anotheraccount@example.com outgoing server settings and it's specific settings that apply to the account that's supplied in the outgoing server fields during creating of the account).

So basically the outgoing data fields are ignored, while the outgoing host is instead being used to link the account that's createn to the very first account that has the same host specified in it's settings.

This happens on Thunderbird version 91.13.0.

I have received an email from Talktalk explaining that they will be making changes to the system in October and giving different email app settings. I use Thunderbird and I made what I think are the recommended changes including changing the incoming mail settings to mail.talktalk.net. I have tried to verify the changes and use Thunderbird but I now find that I can get no further as I am asked to 'Enter your password for 'aparr17@talk.net' on 'mailtalktalk.net' I am subsequently advised that 'Log in to servermail.talktalk.net with user name aparr17 @talktalk.net' failed and asked to enter a new password. Needless to say I can get no further and as I would like to continue to use Thunderbird after Talktalk have made the changes can you advise me how to get further forward with Thunderbird and the changed settings.

TB has slowed way down. I upgraded to 102.3.0 (32-bit). One thread on this forum suggested a series of steps including repairing the inbox folder.

I have dozens of folders. Is there a way to repair ALL the folders?

One person who also uses TB but is not an expert suggested deleting messages of even folders that are no longer needed. (e.g., sufficient time has passed that I would no longer need to keep them.) closing TB backing up the profile deleting all MSF files backing up that profile uninstalling the 32 bit TB installing the 64-bit TB

Is that procedure reasonable?

   I am using Tbird 102.3.0. I just noticed that, for emails I send to a mailing list, no copy of the outgoing message saved. It always used to save one. Is there a setting for this? I suppose I could add my own name to the mailing list but that seems ... clunky. Thanks for any suggestions. Tobias

Previously I raised a question where I had a regular message from TB about failure to update and advising me to go to website to download 91.10.0 and then run it to install.

I though I had solved it but....

Thunderbird has automatically updated itself to 102.0.2 (64 bit) without my intervention - despite the release notes saying it is only offered as a direct download and not an upgrade. It has since updated itself to currently 102.0.3 However, TB reminds me every day with a message stating that it cannot do an update and wants me to visit the TB site and download. I am on the release update channel.

I assume some software switch is stuck and saying that there is an update when there isn't and posting the reminder. Is there some way of clearing this? I have cleaned the cache several times and clean installed the previous [91.10 version?] twice.

I routinely back up my Tbird data by simply copying and pasting the /volume/users//<username>/AppData/Roaming/Thunderbird folder to my backup device. This works perfectly well for me, as I proved when my PC crashed and I had to rebuild it; no trouble getting all my emails back.

In order to manage my correspondence easier, I have set up a number of subfolders in the Inbox in which I store emails for relevant topics (e.g. software licences, financial stuff, insurances, etc). All these are happily backed up together in the one action. However, I now need to backup just one subfolder, by itself, to my backup device and then delete the subfolder from my Inbox. Are there any suggestions as to how I might do this, or is it an impossibility?

Email from a site where I'm a registered user is being sent to Junk folder. I have right clicked them and marked them as Not Junk. They are returned to the Inbox, and then within 3 seconds they are sent to Junk again. Even if I send a copy to Inbox, it gets sent into Junk. I have also added the sender addresses to my address book. Nothing works.

3rd post - it would be nice to get a response. I cannot send emaIL FROM THIS WIN 10 FULLY UPDated APP. The error message as above appears all the time (and does not cancel after 1 hour or whatever). Email can be sent using the same smtp settings from various Android devices. Forum suggestions do not cure the problem.

This, along with all the other annoying glitches within T'bird, seem to be forcing me to abandon using T'bird after many, many years. Shame.

Here`s the message which appeared Sending of the message failed.The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) relay.force9.net failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again. I have checked and everything is ok
