There is no sign in space showing on my blog page from my laptop. I have to use IE to sign in using my laptop, but I can work on it fine using Firefox from my desktop. I tried it without toolbars and it just doesn't show up in the upper right corner like it does on desktop or using IE from laptop. any suggestions?

Chosen solution

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Unless you use Sync to maintain identical sets of extensions, I would guess that there is some difference between the two systems.

Did you post from the laptop? I'm going to recommend disabling some extensions. Open the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then disable the following:

  • AccelerateTab 1.4.1
  • AD Block 1.0.0
  • Anything else you do not recognize or remember installing (if in doubt, disable)

Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

Does that help with the display of the bar?

More generally, when you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

I have never been able to post from the laptop because the sign in space is missing. I disabled AD Block 1.0.0 and still doesn't show up. I do use XMarks 4.2,1 so they are synced.

But I have never been able to sign in to my blog from the laptop. At first I thought i might be "space related" but reading on forums, someone mentioned trying IE, so I did and it works there but I don't want to use IE. I will try your other suggestions tomorrow, but so far no luck.

Thanks. I started it in Safe Mode and it still didn't show up, so I disabled extensions one by one and found the Avast On Line Secuirty was the culprit. Thanks so much for everyone's help.
