When clicking the "browse" button in attempt to upload photo I'm taken to the "file upload" page at which point I get a message that the program is not responding.

Hello,

Try Firefox Safe Mode to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.

(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)

  • On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
  • On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the option key while starting Firefox.
  • On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
  • Or open the Help menu and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.

FirefoxSafeMode

Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode" Safe Mode Fx 15 - Win

If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.

When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.

Thank you.

Hello,

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:

Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.

  1. Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
  2. After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
  3. Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    • Windows:
      • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
      • C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
    • Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
    • Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
  4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
    1. Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
    2. Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.

Please report back to see if this helped you!

Thank you.

This sounds like Microsoft in the 90s...... the answer to every problem, Reboot, Reinstall, Regurgitate the fact that we really have no idea what the problem is or how to fix it..........

I don't care how many "old" versions of FF I have.... if I shouldn't have them, if old versions are going to cause problems, they why doesn't the install process remove them?

I don't have time to uninstall, reinstall, overinstall and play silly games.... I want a browser that simply works and doesn't cost my time. My time is the most precious thing.....

Bottom line.........it's untested

VmusicV,

No one said anything about their being old, troublesome versions causing the problem. Sometimes, at no fault of Mozilla or Firefox, installations can become corrupt. This presents the need to erase the install and start over. It takes only a few minutes to accomplish and should only be required on rare occasion unless there is something seriously wrong with the computer. Your claim that "it's untested" is simply unwarranted, false and does nothing to assist with this issue. This does not appear to be a systemic issue with Firefox 25, so a local root cause is most likely.

If you don't like this possible solution, just wait for another contributor to offer advice. The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. (You'll need to be on the latest version of Firefox to submit feedback). Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

Hi,

Well....... it seems that since there were others who posted the exact same problem, with the exact same version of FF......the chances that all of us didn't get a correct or complete install isn't overly likely. And I am certain there's dozens if not hundreds of others who have the problem and never posted.

FYI - I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest download and it doesn't work. Same file upload error.

Sorry to be seemingly rude, but Just the "thinking" to solve the problem here shows how our 90s Microsoft mentality, and it shows how software engineering hasn't advanced much.

I do realize your intention is to help, and I do appreciate that.

I wonder if it was a change to a Windows API. I bet the file upload is a standard API call to windows, and I have had some windows update.....

....but the file upload dialog works in Google Chrome......
