Since this weekend (14-15), ALL of my browsers--Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer--have been redirected to "http://cdn.adsbarscipt.com/links/flash/?newads" whenever I do a web search. I've tried regedit to remove any strings or values from my registry, I've removed items picked up by Malwarebytes software, I've tried System Rstore, I've tried Safe Mode Diagnostics--NOTHING. If there is a silver lining to this, there seems to be no effect on secure websites with this malware/virus....

PLEASE HELP!!!

great, thanks for reporting back!

normally i also recommend malwarebytes but you mentioned that you were already using it in your original question - if you still want to scan your system more thoroughly, some other recommended free security tools are listed at How do I get rid of malware?

hello, maybe your hosts file was altered by malicious software to divert you from popular search pages. you can use the fixit from this microsoft support article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/972034/

otherwise, also go to firefox > addons > extensions & remove any suspicious entries (toolbars, things that you have not installed intentionally, don't know what purpose they serve, etc). also go to the windows control panel / programs and remove all toolbars or potentially unwanted software from there and run a full scan with different security tools like adwcleaner.

My thanks, philipp--your advice seems to have done the trick! Of particular note, your suggestion regarding the use of Fixit from Microsoft was something which I would never have considered, so thank you for that.

Were there any other security tools--besides adwcleaner--that you'd recommend?

Thanks again!
