Hey there, My firefox browser crashes a few times every hour, sometimes crashing consecutively (crashing upon restoration) up to five times in under a minute. Here's the report that's supposed to go to mozilla anyways. Seeing as I've never received feedback from the report feature included in the browser, I figured I would try contacting someone directly. What can I do to eliminate these constant crashes? I've had to install third party session managers in the event that the in-client session manager becomes corrupt, which isn't that often, relatively speaking, but over the course of a few days I have lost pages of research, incomplete emails or posts on forums and so on in-between constantly restoring them. Even if the ratio of crashes to session corruption was 1:100, that would only give anything I open a lifespan of a couple days. It's incredibly annoying. Please tell me there's something I can do about this?

I tried resetting firefox and I LOST EVERYTHING!! My third party session manager was deleted and so was all my research!!! And it still crashes. With less than 10 tab open btw. Reinstalled it too, so its up to date. I can't believe I lost everything. I've also turned off Hardware Acceleration. Any suggestions?

This is because of a third-party program called Trusteer Rapport, Try to disable or remove it Disable or remove Add-ons.

I don't think I have that addon. It's definitely not listed under plugins or extensions.

Also, heres another summary of todays crashes:

Also, wouldn't it have been removed when I did a reset and/or reinstalled the program? I've had to reinstall all my other extensions. What should I do?

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Before trying the reset, try safe mode and see if a addon or hardware acceleration is affecting it.

The reset didn't fix my problems. i tried that already

more options

Did you try the disabling of hardware acceleration?

more options

Yes. I've already disabled hardware acceleration

Can you reproduce in windows safe mode (with networking)

Here's one fix that worked for me: I just started having this problem, severely...... so I checked the video .dll files (my card is an ATI so I looked at all of the .dll files starting with "ati") in Windows > "System 32" folder, AND the Windows > System 32 > "dllcache" folder. After I looked at each ATI video .dll file's Properties I found the same named .dll files did not match!! I simply found the most current ones, then copied those and replaced the older ones.

Problem fixed!! It was crashing sometimes in seconds from opening Firefox OR Internet Explorer. Flash Player was constantly crashing too if the pages stayed open long enough for that to even run. Not anymore!!
