In order to open FF, I have to go to task manager and close the process from the previous usage. I just recently installed FF (few months ago) after a long time away from this product. I have reset it a few times to no avail. I dont use 3rd part tool bars, or search add ons. Only have 3 add ons, ADblock and flash block. divx

  1. Make it a habit to close Firefox with Exit or Close, not the "X" close button in the upper right corner. That really applies to all applications, as it allows the application to close properly.
  2. Troubleshoot your Firefox Add-ons (link in following article section https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems )

well it's easy to tell that this browser is broken and there are no fix's, except deletion...... goodbye

Is there also a plugin-container in cases like that?

I'm having the same problem for months. What addons are you using? Maybe we can isolate it that way. I am using:

Download Helper, FEBE, FireFTP, FoxyProxy Basic, IE Tab2, Password Exporter, Remember Passwords, & Tabmix Plus

I've been using all of these for a long time without problems. The only exception in FoxyProxy, which I rarely use. How about you?

Plugins are a much more likelier cause than extensions of such a hang.

Does this still happen if you set all plugins to never activate?

Do you have any Firefox preloading software installed on your computer?

These programs will allow Firefox to start-up faster, but will not terminate the Firefox process or will continue to start the process.

OK, I set everything to never activate.... We will see what happens, and maybe isolate the problem.

No, never heard of that.
