What could be causing Firefox to run sluggish after the 16.0.2 update?

I just recently (as in about 15 minutes ago) got the 16.0.2 update for Firefox and now my browser is performing rather sluggishly.

Whenever I open a new tab, the browser locks up for 2-3 seconds before opening the new tab completely and the same thing happens whenever I go to click on a link of any kind.

If this were an add-on incompatibility, would I be be notified in my add-ons menu? All my add-ons seem to be functioning just fine, it's just browsing pages and/or opening new tabs is really slow.

I also just now tried running Firefox in Safe Mode so all my add-ons would be disabled and it still did the aforementioned problems.

I've been having similar problems with previous version of Firefox. It is very intermittent as though Firefox has spawned a process or triggered a process that needs to finish before Firefox will continue. Very frustrating.

hello Eldriken, some of the addons in your list, though disabled, can be considered malware (General Crawler, Premiumplay Codec-C) - so the integrity of you whole system may be at risk.

i'd recommend doing an in-depth scan of your system with the security software already in place and other tools like the free version of malwarebytes & a reset of firefox.

I restarted my computer and everything's working fine now. I don't know what caused the issue, but simply restarting it made everything work fine.
