"Search" box is not working in Firefox (Int Explorer OK)
When I attempt to search for something using the box in the top right-hand corner of the Firefox browser, it always brings up the "Google" search page instead of the search results. All attempts to search from the Google page always results in the same empty Google page coming up. I have no problem with Internet Explorer. Unable to find anything in "Settings" or "Options" for Firefox that would control this. I have Firefox 15.0.1 running on Windows 7 on new Hewlett Packard Pavillion computer purchased in April. Since "restore", updates have been made for Windows 7 (23 of them) as well as Java plug-ins. Restore was done to fix corrupted "Windows User Profile".

hello, you could try installing a different google search plugin: http://mycroft.mozdev.org/search-engines.html?name=%22google%22&category=12&author=Mycroft+Project

Hi foggy1
try in Safe Mode and check it again, clicking the Start in Safe Mode button, if this solve the issue, then see : Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems.
thank you
Thanks for the reply "ideato", but no fix. Tried both those ideas in your message, as well as, disabling plug-ins, updating plugins and disabling add-ons. It means that if I want to do a search for anything, I have to use Internet Explorer.

Search bar - add, change and manage search engines on Firefox
After looking further through the Firefox site, I found something that told me how to change "search engines" which I did not know one could do. I have changed to Google and deleted the AVG Secure Search, which appears to have been the problem. Many thanks for help, "madperson" and "ideato".
Decided to also turn off AVG Toolbar as the search box on that section also results in the same problem. AVG = good anti-virus NOT search engines. All good now.
