Only in Firefox does "Norton ConnectSafe" take over my searches. I type something into the address line and then it comes up saying it can't find anything and forces me to type the exact same thing into their line. They then use Google to find the answer. I want to get rid of this unwanted step. Don't know how Norton hijacked my computer...never have used their products. It doesn't show in addons, programs, search engines. I went to their website and they gave instructions on how to remove but that was garbage. I was supposed to change my dns to accepted from ISP (which it was already set correct - on 4 and 6). This is annoying enough to stop using Firefox. Why is this browser so easily hijacked? Had another one take over a couple months ago.  :(

I can physically go to google search box but I like to type in the address line.

Problem solved...Belkin is the culprit. My Belkin N-router did an update and turned on "website filters" without my knowledge. Turned it off and everything is good. Thanks for your suggestions and help!

Hi,

Please create a screenshot of the search web page you're seeing by following the guide mentioned at How do I create a screenshot of my problem?.

Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. You really help us to visualize the problem.

Here is the screen that I get. I can type in well used url's and it allows me to go directly to those sites but somehow it seems to intercepts the smaller sites. I just typed a made up name to get the inclosed screen shot. Norton's directions to remove are not a valid solution.

I also need to backtrack on my above statement. Norton is now taking over my IE searches too so it isn't just a Firefox problem.

One possible reason could be that your current DNS provider, or the ISP may be using it for enhanced security. You can try to manually set two DNS servers and check. e.g. 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for Google.
